MARGIN lets you keep notes in the margin of the web — highlight a passage on any page, add a thought, and summon it all back later. Here’s how to get going, and where to get help.
Getting started
- Install the extension, then reload any page.
- Select some text and press ⌥⇧M (Alt+Shift+M) — or click the toolbar button, or right-click → Clip to MARGIN. A small window opens with the quote ready; add your note and save.
- Come back to any page you’ve annotated and press ⌥⇧H (Alt+Shift+H): your saved quotes light up on the page, with a rail listing every note.
- Prefer no install? A bookmarklet does the same clip on any browser.
Keyboard shortcuts
- ⌥⇧M — clip the current page and your selection.
- ⌥⇧H — show (or hide) your margin on this page.
- Prefer different keys? Rebind them at

Signing in
MARGIN uses a passwordless sign-in: enter your email at margin.zephyrcode.live and we send a one-time code. Type it in and you’re done. If the code doesn’t arrive within a minute, check your spam/promotions folder and try once more (there’s a short cooldown between sends).
Sharing a page’s margin
Open any page’s margin and mint an invite link for one reader — view-only or can-comment, with an optional expiry, revocable anytime. Your guest needs no account. Nothing is emailed automatically; you get a link (and a prefilled email) to send yourself.
Your data & privacy
The extension reads the current tab only when you invoke it, and only takes the page URL, its title, and your selection. Your notes live in your own account, visible only to you unless you mint a share link. You can view, search, and delete anything — or your whole account — anytime. Full detail: privacy policy.
